Mandatory College Credit Plus Meeting

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This letter is to inform you of the upcoming informational meeting relating to College Credit Plus.  The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the Brooklyn Auditorium.  This is a state mandated meeting for parents and students if a child is considering taking college classes during the 2019-2020 academic year for the first time. Current CC+ students are not required to attend.

College Credit Plus is a program open to qualifying students in grades 7-12, and provides the opportunity to take college courses at a public institution of higher learning at no cost.  Nonpublic institutions of higher learning may incur some cost, but provisions exist for economically disadvantaged students.

Students must submit a written notice of their intent to participate in the upcoming academic year, by April first, in accordance with section 3365.03 of the Revised Code, but may submit the written notice of intent to participate as early as February fifteenth. Students desiring to participate in college credit plus in the summer are strongly encouraged to submit letters of intent and begin the admissions process starting in February and prior to the April first notice of intent deadline in order to improve chances of meeting summer registration timelines.

Representatives from Cuyahoga Community College, The University of Akron, and Polaris Career Center will be present to explain the requirements and expectations of their respective College Credit Plus programs.  General information regarding the program; including credit transfers, transportation, eligibility, etc. will be discussed by the High School staff.  Additionally, application materials will be distributed at this meeting.

Please keep in mind that you are only required to attend this meeting if your child is considering college coursework during the next school year.  However, attending this meeting does not obligate you to participate in this program.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
