Brooklyn High School Senior Destinee McHue Selected to Herb Scholars Program at University of Toledo

Destinee McHue

Brooklyn High School Senior Destinee McHue was recently selected to The University of Toledo’s Herb Scholars Program, the most prestigious scholarship awarded by the Judith Herb College of Education.  Recipients were selected based on ACT/SAT scores, high school GPA and transcript, resume, essay, letters of recommendation and personal interview.  The scholarship will provide Destinee a full ride to the University of Toledo where she will enroll in the fall of 2019 as an early childhood education major.  Destinee has had a desire to become a teacher since a young age and was further inspired after witnessing the impact many of her teachers in the Brooklyn City Schools have had on herself and other students.  She enjoys working with kids and regularly volunteers during her free class period with Brooklyn School students in grades 2nd through 4th grade at recess.  Destinee is also actively involved in the musical and performing arts at Brooklyn High School as a member of the drama club, vocal and show choirs.  As she prepares to begin her undergraduate studies, Destinee credits the strong support of teachers and the District’s emphasis on career planning as keys to helping her have a strong foundation for future success.  The Brooklyn City Schools congratulates Destinee McHue on her accomplishment and wish her all the best as a future leader in the classroom!
