Principal's Message

Patrick Yarman
Brooklyn Elementary Principal

Dear Brooklyn Families,

The winter months bring many activities and events to the school.  Please note that our Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will be taking the winter STAR test benchmark during the month of December.  This lets us know how the children are progressing academically since the school year began.

Research shows that students do better when their family is involved at home and at at school.  Grades are higher.  Test scores rise.  Self-esteem grows.  Our schools improve.  Why not consider joining Brooklyn Elementary PTA to help you connect to your child(ren)'s education?  Mebership information is available in the office.  Cost of membership is only $5 but the experience and connections you will make are priceless!  Meetings are on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in room 173 at Brooklyn High School.  Come see what PTA is doing to make Brooklyn Elementary the best school it can be!

In the month of December, many activities take place.  One of those is our annual PTA Holiday Shop.  It will take place Dec. 13-14 in the media center project lab.

Saturday, Dec. 16th, is our annual Holiday Music Festival which takes place in the auditorium and lasts all day.  Our 3rd graders will entertain you starting the Festival at 12:30 p.m.  Intermediate and High School performances follow.  If you are looking for some holiday spirit, consider stopping in for a listen.

The week of Dec. 18 will be a school spirit week.  Please check with your child(ren) for details for each day.  An informational flyer will be coming home soon.

Our preschool will be holding a Gingerbread Jamboree on Wednesday, Dec. 20th.  Invitations have been sent with more information.

Finally, Dec. 21st is the end of the quarter which is an early release day at 1:30 p.m.  Please mark your calendars.  There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, Dec.. 22nd as that begins our Winter Break.  Classes resume for students on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.

I hope you find the news articles, calendar and other links on the Brooklyn Elementary school web page helpful.

May the holidays find you and your family happy and healthy!

Yours in education,
Mr. Patrick M. Yarman
