Seventh Grader, Laila Schwin, will be representing Brooklyn City Schools in the Cuyahoga County Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Cuyahoga Community College. This competition serves as the semi-finals to determine which student from Cuyahoga County will attend the 90th Annual Scripps Spelling Bee in Washington, DC on May 28 - June 4, 2017.
As only one student (must be a seventh or eighth grader) per school is permitted to participate, Laila was selected to be our representative during a run-off bee with our 8th grade Spelling Bee winner, conducted by Mr. Piechowski, Mr. Tanski and Ms. Hostetler, and myself. This selection bee was comprised of 100 words approved by the National Scripps organization. Laila performed almost flawlessly. Good Luck Laila!
