Our Kindness in Chalk is based on a national movement to prevent and address bullying in a positive light. This is our second year involved in this program, and it provides an opportunity for students and staff to reflect and connect in a positive way and share their thoughts in chalk on our sidewalks around the campus. We want students and staff to know that mistreating others in not okay. This also stresses the characteristics of our school-wide STORM concept (Show your Best, Think before you Speak, Own your Actions, Respect yourself and Others, Make a Difference). BIS opened the day on Friday, September 29th with a whole school assembly in the field house. We brought our staff and students together to share the Hunter Hayes video "Invisible" which delivers an anti-bullying message. During the video BIS staff also introduced the purple hands for the month of October. The purple hands connect to an anti-bullying pledge we are asking everyone to make. The hands will be displayed in each area for the month, and parents can check them out at conferences. Each child received a hand at their first Monday Morning Meeting (MMM) on Monday. October 2nd.
Thank you to our MMM committee for their dedication to promoting a positive message, organizing an excellent event which allows our school to confidently shine.
