Last night at its January regular meeting of the Brooklyn City Schools Board of Education, the Board approved the treasurer to move forward with the process to put a renewal of a $2.254 million dollar emergency levy on the ballot. This emergency operating levy was initially approved in 2013 for 5 years and it expires on December 31, 2018. This renewal levy will appear on the May 8 ballot. This levy will ensure that the district continues to receive funds that help maintain day-to-day operations. The renewal of this levy will not increase taxes for the residents of Brooklyn.
