The students and staff of the Brooklyn City Schools celebrated the holiday season in several meaningful ways during the month of December. All grade levels participated in the PTA sponsored Holiday Shop from Wednesday, December 12th through Friday, December 14th. The festive event provided students the opportunity to purchase holiday presents for their friends and family members. A wide variety of gift options were available for people of all ages and included children’s toys and books, coffee mugs, candles and cookbooks, as well as work gloves and small toolboxes. A big thank-you to the Brooklyn School PTA for sponsoring this year’s Holiday Shop! Students and staff also took time to help community members in need during the holiday season by donating hats and gloves to hang on the Giving Tree located outside the Brooklyn School main office. Finally, District staff partnered with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to sponsor fifty-eight local families in need through the Brooklyn Cares Holiday Wishes Program. Donations of unwrapped gifts and food items were distributed to sponsored families after-school on Tuesday, December 18th.
The Brooklyn City Schools are extremely proud of the generosity displayed by our staff and students during the holiday season! Way to go Hurricanes!
