Description:
As our society advances and scientists are able to better identify human traits and behavior, the field of psychology has grown quickly. Psychology is becoming more a part of our daily lives with theories and vocabulary terms that were unheard of forty years ago.   There are many jobs that have been created because of our understanding of people’s behavior and emotions.   This class will introduce the students to the subject of psychology and the basic understanding of human behavior. This class will also help the students understand themselves better and what effects human behaviors.  
During this semester, this class will answer the question, what is psychology, and the methods used to find new information about human behavior. We will also learn about;
I.                    How the human brain works
II.                 Sensation and perceptions
III.               Consciousness: dreams and effects of drugs on the brain
IV.              How we learn and remember
V.                 How our bodies change and develop during the stages of life
VI.              Our emotions and personality
VII.            Gender roles and stereotyping
VIII.         Effects of stress on our bodies
IX.              Social interaction and conformity
