Educational Philosophy

My philosophy of education tends to lean towards the constructivist or hands-on approach.  My classes are project based with a little bit of lecture and whole class demonstration as needed.  I believe students learn best when they are actually using technology and software to solve everyday problems.

Multiple Software Approach

This year the computer department is going to use a multiple software approach for assignments.  We will use primarily Microsoft Office products, but will also use Google Documents and Open Source products.  This is to promote the philosophy that the important aspect is not the software used, but the skills and concepts used in designing and formatting the projects.  Software changes, but the core skills will transfer regardless of the software used.
