Four Brooklyn Students Win Highly Acclaimed Scholastic Art and Writing Award

scholastic art

Four Brooklyn City Schools students recently received awards in the prestigious Scholastic Art and Writing Competition sponsored in part by the Cleveland Institute of Art. Jaden Walz was awarded a gold key for a photograph she entered into the contest, and as a result, her work moves on to national adjudication where winners will be announced in March, and honored at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Randall Fields won a silver key for a drawing he created with me last year, while Asmaa Rahmy and Savannah Perez were both awarded honorable mentions in photography. Each of these students have demonstrated that hard work, knowledge of composition and elements of design and the aptitude to recognize meaningful subject matter can elevate their work to compete with students on a national level. For earning gold and silver keys respectively, the artwork created by Jaden Walz and Randall Fields will be displayed at the Cleveland Institute of Art's Reinberger Gallery during the exhibition opening reception and award ceremony on Saturday, January 19 and will remain up until February 1st. Congratulations to these individuals for showcasing their creative arts skills and for finely representing the Brooklyn City Schools.
