Dr. Gleichauf has been the Superintendent of the Brooklyn City Schools since 2015. This is his second tenure with the District serving Brooklyn from 1991-2000. In that time, Dr. Gleichauf was an English teacher in both Brooklyn Middle School and Brooklyn High School. Additionally, he coached girls’ volleyball and boys’ basketball while teaching. He was then appointed Brooklyn Middle School Principal in 1997. He served in that role until 2000.
After Brooklyn, he spent 10 years as an elementary principal, most of those years in the Lakewood City Schools. In 2004, Grant School, where he was principal, was named a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School. In 2010, he was appointed as Director of Teaching and Learning for the Lakewood City Schools. Dr. Gleichauf most recently served as Deputy Superintendent of the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, where he helped develop four learning academies at Cuyahoga falls High School as well as lead the community engagement stage of the “Building Our Future Together” Committee with the Director of Operations.
