Brooklyn High School was well represented at several recent workforce skills competitions which included students enrolled at Polaris Career Center. Jessica Jasilionis (11th grade) placed fourth in the Banking & Finance contest at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) state competition in Columbus and will advance to the national competition in Anaheim, California on May 1st – 5th, 2019. Top ten finishers at the BPA state competition included Marchello Carrossellia (12th grade) for the Prepared Speech category and Akeria Walker (11th grade) for Advanced Office Systems & Procedures. All three students are enrolled in the Business Professional & Office Technology program at Polaris Career Center.
Several Hurricanes also demonstrated high achievement at the recent SkillsUSA Regional Competition. 12th grade students and Polaris Career Center Criminal Justice Program members Haley Lewis and Annette Malcolm placed second in the Crime Scene Investigation and Prepared Speech contests respectively. Both students advanced to the state competition which was held in Columbus on April 16-17th. Congratulations to all participating Brooklyn High School students for proudly representing the District!
