Championship MS Robotics Team

A major word of congratulations is extended to the Middle School Robotics Team, who recently won the “Mad Grab” event at the 1st Annual Polaris Palooza Robotics Competition held at North Olmsted Middle School on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.  Specifically, the MS Robotics team was tasked with designing a remote-controlled robot that could scoop up balls of various sizes and then place them in containers located in an 8’x8’ arena.  Points were awarded based on the size of the ball successfully picked up and placed in one of the containers.  The MS Robotics Team also competed in the “Drag Race” event which involved racing a robotic car.  In addition to the two robotic challenges, students were required to answer questions from judges about their robot, including the design process and any modifications that were made.  The oral answer portion of the competition was scored using a rubric.

Polaris Palooza Robotics Competition

Our Brooklyn Middle School Robotics team won amidst a field of 8 teams from the 6 schools that belong to the Polaris Career Center consortium. The members of this winning team include 8th graders Katrina Gaspar, Logan Mulvey, Melaine Fernandez and Joey Dennis. They are advised by Mr. Ron Goodwin.  The students designed, constructed and tested the robot with minimal guidance from Mr. Goodwin, using knowledge and skills learned in the Automation and Robotics class at Brooklyn High School.  On behalf of the Brooklyn City Schools, congratulations to the Middle School Robotics Team on your outstanding achievement!
