Over the past several weeks, students at Brooklyn School read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as part of the building wide One School, One Book program. In keeping with the “chocolatey, sugary treats” theme of the beloved Roald Dahl classic, and to celebrate the conclusion of the One School, One Book Program, Brooklyn School hosted an Ice Cream Social for all grades in the cafeteria on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Members of the Brooklyn School PTA and City of Brooklyn Police and Fire Departments were on-hand to help serve bowls of ice cream complete with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and sprinkles. After enjoying their bowl of ice cream, students rotated to the other side of the cafeteria to learn more about the Grand Slam Summer Reading Game 2019, sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Students also participated in a Jeopardy-style trivia game about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory led by Media Specialist Wendy Smith and received various prizes for every correct answer. Thank you to the Brooklyn School PTA and City of Brooklyn Fire and Police Departments for their continued support of our students and the mission of the Brooklyn City Schools.
