Jazz is a uniquely American genre of music that has impacted and inspired countless individuals. BHS sophomore Daylun Armstrong was recently given the opportunity to share not only about her affinity for jazz music, but the evolution of the diverse musical genre in an article recently published on Cleveland.com. The article is part of the Write About Now partnership between Cleveland.com and the non-profit Lake Erie Ink, which seeks to encourage teen writers. Through personal reflections and interviews, Daylun’s article examines the history of jazz music in American popular culture and the City of Cleveland, and the resiliency of the genre to continually evolve and inspire despite a decline in popularity. Superintendent Dr. Mark Gleichauf recently interviewed Daylun about her experience writing for Cleveland.com and their conversation is available for viewing on the District’s YouTube channel. Daylun is enrolled in the Journalism class at Brooklyn High School and plans to pursue a future career in journalism. Congratulations, Daylun!
