Brooklyn City Schools Seeks Renewal of Funds on March 2020 Ballot

Buzzsaw

By a unanimous vote of the Board of Education and the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Mark Gleichauf and Treasurer David Hoskin, the Brooklyn City Schools has placed a renewal levy on the ballot in March 2020. This issue is NOT A TAX INCREASE and renews funds from a levy that is set to expire in December 2020. The proposal will renew approximately $2,175,000 annually for the next 7 years that is used for general district operations. In May 2019, the community approved new funds for one specific levy and renewed funds pertaining to another levy in November 2019. This particular renewal request represents a final request from the Brooklyn City Schools for a third levy fund, and that is anticipated to keep the Brooklyn City Schools from coming back to the community for a levy until at least 2022. The Brooklyn City Schools thanks the community for their ongoing and continuous support. Please keep an eye out for more information about upcoming public finance forums and other ways by which you can learn about this NO NEW TAXES renewal request in March 2020.
