Rob Slattery and Mary Lee Bowen, who were duly elected by the community last November, officially assumed their duties as Board Members earlier this week. Rob Slattery, who was sworn into office on Monday, January 6th, is an alumnus of the Brooklyn City Schools and brings to the Board a background in law enforcement and private business as well.  Mary Lee Bowen was sworn in on Tuesday, January 7th, and is a 40-year resident of the City of Brooklyn and has family members who all attended Brooklyn City Schools. She looks forward to using her business background to help with school finances and working with the other board members and city representatives to continue making Brooklyn schools the best they can be. On behalf of everyone in the Brooklyn City Schools, welcome to the new members of the Board of Education.

The Brooklyn City Schools also wants to thank outgoing Board of Education members Rocky Neale and Bob Hennings for their service. Rocky Neale served 11 years on the Board and had a track record of strong support of Brooklyn students and their various activities. Mr. Hennings served 4 years and demonstrated his commitment through his involvement in the District athletic and music programs. Thanks to both of these individuals. Together, the District will continue to be proud Hurricanes going into the future.
