Cultures and traditions of countries from around the world were celebrated as part of the 5th Annual International Festival at Brooklyn High School on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Featuring students and staff from foreign language, social studies, art and other classes, the highly anticipated event showcased the diversity, collaboration and creativity of the Brooklyn City Schools. A Parade of Nations officially opened The International Festival and was led by a 10-meter long Chinese dragon, followed by students holding flags and dressed in the appropriate cultural attire of their selected countries. Students from the High School and Brooklyn School watched from the audience as the parade moved up and down the aisles of the Auditorium. During the remainder of the day, students were given the opportunity to visit the high school gym to view tables with creative and informative displays of countries from across the globe. Students at each table provided a short presentation on the history, government and cultures of their selected country. The festivities also included samples of international foods and artwork. Congratulations to all participating students and staff for proudly representing the Brooklyn City Schools and promoting the importance of diversity!
