Superintendent Mark Gleichauf Announces Decision to Accept Lakewood Local Schools Position

Superintendent Dr. Mark Gleichauf

Superintendent Dr. Mark G. Gleichauf today announced his resignation from the Brooklyn City Schools to serve in the same position of Lakewood Local Schools, east of Columbus in Licking County. Dr. Gleichauf will conclude a 14-year career in the Brooklyn City Schools in July 2020.  During that time, he has served as a teacher, coach, and principal, in addition to his current position as Superintendent. Over the past five years, Dr. Gleichauf has cherished the opportunity to reconnect with former students who call Brooklyn home and have children of their own in the District.

As Superintendent, Dr. Gleichauf has overseen several important accomplishments that have helped to establish a strong foundation for continued District growth and success, including:

  • Report card improvements - Two A's on the last two state report cards as well as gradual improvements in other measures.
  • Instructional Technology Investments– Next year, Brooklyn will be a 1:1 district where every student will have access to a chrome book all day.
  • Fiscal stability - Five straight years of revenues over expenditures, 4 passed levies (3 within a 12-month period)
  • Greater building efficiencies - The HB264 project, online registration, new school visitor program, online form submissions through Final Forms and BHS roof repairs.
  • Strategic Planning - Creation of a strategic plan in 2018 with input from over 80-community stakeholders that still meet for ongoing assessment and modification of the Strategic Plan goals.
  • Increased Communication/Social Media Presence   - Introduction of a District Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter channels that highlight the accomplishments of our talented Brooklyn students

The Brooklyn City Schools would like to thank Dr. Mark Gleichauf for his fourteen years of dedicated service and leadership on behalf of the District.
