The Brooklyn City Schools is home to caring and dedicated staff members who make a positive impact on our students every day. To recognize their contributions, the District will be spotlighting individual teachers and staff on a regular basis. Please read the article below to learn more about a member of our Hurricane Staff Family!
Kathy Linger has been a part of the Brooklyn family since 1985. She became a teacher because she enjoyed working with students and seeing them accomplish their goals. Kathy stayed a teacher because she enjoys the educational environment and the people she has gotten to work with. Kathy pointed out that the hours, days, and time off have allowed her to also have a family and be a successful working mother. This work-life balance has brought on Kathy’s greatest accomplishment: raising a well-adjusted, kind, capable, and loving daughter. If Kathy had not thrived in education, she would have been a professional organizer due to her love of “organizing and throwing things away”.
A proud Cleveland Viking, Kathy attended Cleveland State University for all of her educational accomplishments. All told, Kathy has earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration, MBA, Business Vocational certification, and her Math education certification. Before becoming a teacher, Kathy spent all of her college years working as a student secretary in CSU’s Business College, Accounting Department. If you found that amazing, wait until Kathy shows off her boating skills! Just make sure to bring your own tube, skis, or wakeboard. During quarantine, Kathy spent her time painting, organizing, and redecorating her house. On the weekends, she enjoys going out to eat, taking walks, and attending her church’s virtual services. A pillar of the Brooklyn education community, her students appreciate the fact that she has always made herself available to them. On behalf of the Brooklyn City Schools, thank you to Kathy Linger for her dedication and commitment to helping students succeed!
