The Brooklyn City Schools are proud to recognize High School Building Secretary Mrs. Barb Hastings who will be retiring at the end of the school year after twenty-two years of dedicated service on behalf of students and staff. Throughout her time in the District, Barb has provided a friendly and supportive presence at Brooklyn High School. During her first seven years in the Brooklyn City Schools, Mrs. Hastings worked as the High School Assistant Principal’s Secretary and Attendance Secretary. In her current role as Building Secretary, Mrs. Hastings offers support to students and staff, and interacts with parents and visitors on a regular basis. Mrs. Hastings has appreciated the wonderful friendships developed over the years, the opportunity to work with amazing staff, and the daily interactions with students. She attributes this to the small, close-knit community of the Brooklyn City Schools.
During her retirement, Mrs. Hastings looks forward to having the chance to spend more time with her children and grandchildren, and relaxing.
“Barb has been a cornerstone for the high school over the last three decades. She helps keep the school running smoothly and is an asset that will greatly be missed,” shared Brooklyn High School Principal Brian Hare. “I would like to congratulate her on her retirement and hope she enjoys being able to spend time with her grandkids.”
The Brooklyn City Schools once again thank Barb Hastings for her contributions as an outstanding member of Hurricane Nation and wish her a wonderful retirement!
