Seventh grade students in Mrs. Sherrin Frate’s math class recently engaged in collaborative learning through a series of rotation groups. Each rotation featured a unique format and focused on a targeted learning topic. The formats included teacher time, math talk, technology, independent practice, and a specific math activity or game. In addition to promoting collaboration, the group activities encouraged rich math discussions where students cooperatively learned to develop and strengthen their understanding of grade level math concepts. Altogether, the math rotation groups are a prime example of the creative and engaged learning taking place across the Brooklyn City Schools.
