Brooklyn City Schools Community Helps Make Holiday Wishes Come True for Local Families

District volunteers place donated gifts into family's car

The Brooklyn City Schools community joined with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, City of Brooklyn, local businesses, as well other community organizations to help make the holiday wishes come true for fifty-nine families, including 133 children, through the Brooklyn Cares Holiday Wishes program. Support for the annual program is made possible through a partnership between Brooklyn CARES and Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce that helps to match local families in-need with community sponsors who provide gifts, as well as food and personal care items unique to each family’s situation. All gifts were dropped off at the Brooklyn School office on Monday, December 13th, where they were organized and distributed by district volunteers to sponsored families in the school parking lot on Thursday, December 16th. A full list of the individuals and organizations which donated to the Holiday Wishes program can be viewed here. A special thank-you to all District staff, including Suzy Marquis, for their assistance in coordinating and organizing donations. Thank you to the Brooklyn City Schools community for your generosity and kindness which helped to bring holiday joy to local families!
