Davion Gonzalez Receives Excellence in Education Award

Davion Gonzalez is a recipient of the 2022 Excellence in Education Awards

Congratulations to Brooklyn High School student Davion Gonzalez who was recognized as a recipient of the 2022 Excellence in Education Awards! The Education Service Center (ESC) of Northeast Ohio and State Support Team– Region 3 grant the annual recognition to students with disabilities, peers, and educators to celebrate the many great accomplishments and experiences that occur in special education in Northeast Ohio.

Davion was awarded the Outstanding Peer Achievement Award which is given to students without disabilities who have served as an outstanding role model by establishing positive relationships with and assisting other students with special needs. Davion regularly volunteers his time in the school resource room where he enjoys planning activities including games with his high school peers. He has also volunteered to create a lesson plan for his visits and encourages his fellow students to do their best. Davion demonstrates outstanding personal values by being a good friend who is able to get along with his peers and stays positive in the interactions he has with his classmates, including those with disabilities.

Davion has made a positive impact not only with peers who have special needs, but in his own personal high school journey as well. After enrolling in the Brooklyn Digital Learning Academy, Davion has found success in the online learning format. Initially, Davion was not clear about his future goals after high school graduation, but through his experiences volunteering in the resource room, he is considering applying to Cuyahoga Community College and pursuing a career in the education field.

Congratulations once again to Davion Gonzalez on being recognized for making a positive impact with his fellow peers and being an exceptional role model!
