Brooklyn High School proudly introduced several new courses for students at the start of the 2019-2020 school year, including a year-long Yearbook class. The new elective course has generated a high level of student interest as approximately twenty-eight students are currently enrolled in the class taught by English Language Arts (ELA) teacher Jacinta Bader and Art teacher Joanne Becker. Featuring a curriculum based on Ohio’s ELA standards, the Yearbook class supplements existing English classes by emphasizing speaking and writing skills, while also covering formatting, interviewing and photography techniques. During a recent classroom learning activity, students were asked to practice their caption writing skills by creating a sample caption for a picture displayed on the screen. Students then shared and performed a peer assessment of their captions with students at their table. Each table then selected the best caption and shared it with the rest of the class. Overall, the Yearbook class is excited to use their creativity and design skills to capture memories from the 2019-2020 school year!
