Brooklyn Students to Benefit from Polaris Career Center Renovations and Expansion

Polaris Career Center, a valued educational partner with the Brooklyn City Schools, recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 15 ,2019, to celebrate the completion of an extensive renovation and expansion project at its campus located in Middleburg Heights.  Brooklyn and Polaris Board members Jim Oper and Bob Hennings along with several Brooklyn Polaris students participated in the event.  The newly rebuilt facility features an updated ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant floor plan layout, new kitchens, facilities and an additional entrance for student bus drop off.  The additional kitchen facilities include a Deli Kitchen for food sales and Education Kitchen for student training.  Renovations were also made to several career training rooms used by students.  Infrastructure improvements include new plumbing, heating/AC, electrical and technology upgrades.  The new amenities and improved infrastructure will provide enhanced educational services and career training to the approximately 4,000 high school students who attend Polaris Career Center.

A public vocational school for 11th and 12th grade students from six area public school districts, including Brooklyn, Polaris offers career training programs such as Automotive Technology, Culinary Arts, Construction Trades, Criminal Justice, Medical Technician/Fire Training and Precision CNC Machining.  Polaris also offers on-site programs at partner high school buildings.  Participating Brooklyn High School students can receive on-site career training in several different fields, including, Automation and Robotics, Design and Modeling, and Principles of Engineering.  The Brooklyn City Schools are proud to partner with Polaris Career Center in preparing our students for successful futures.
