Second graders in Mrs. Sue Grodek’s classroom recently completed a two-week long Language Arts research and presentation project on animals which live in Ohio. The annual project usually takes up most of the 4th grading quarter but was simplified and shortened to adapt to the new online learning format. To start, students watched YouTube instructional videos on how to properly write a research paper. Mrs. Grodek also created instructional videos modeling how to complete a graphic organizer using the Loom video recording program. Students then conducted online research on their selected animal using Kids World Book, PebbleGo and Epic! Reader programs. Throughout the entire process, students shared their work with Mrs. Grodek to obtain helpful feedback. Parents also assisted with research process and provided writing support for their children. The final presentation was constructed using the Google Slides platform. Students who wished to share were given the opportunity to present their animal project slide presentation with the class using Zoom video conferencing. Congratulations, to the 2nd grade students in Mrs. Grodek’s classroom on a job well done!
