Superintendent Gleichauf Delivers Final State of the Schools Address

Dr. Gleichauf Delivers 2020 State of the Schools Address

Dr. Mark Gleichauf recently recorded the 2020 State of the Schools presentation in the Auditorium of Brooklyn High School on Tuesday, June 16th, delivering his final prepared remarks as Superintendent of the Brooklyn City Schools. Dr. Gleichauf will conclude a 14-year career in the Brooklyn City Schools in July 2020.  During that time, he has served as a teacher, coach, and principal, in addition to his current position as Superintendent. The recent address is available for viewing on the District YouTube channel, and provides an overview of several key areas, including examples of student online learning during the extended school closure due to COVID-19, a salute to the Class of 2020, as well as student academic and co-curricular achievements. The 2020 State of the Schools presentation also highlights the ongoing financial stability of the District, exemplified by the unprecedented passage of three levy issues in one calendar year, and six straight years of revenues exceeding expenditures. Noteworthy strides in the areas of District communications and community partnerships are also spotlighted. Dr. Gleichauf also provides a look ahead to the near future and the ongoing planning of the District to prepare for the 2020-21 school year considering the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Brooklyn City Schools would like to thank Dr. Mark Gleichauf for his dedicated service and leadership on behalf of the District, and for reminding us that it is always ‘Hurricane Season!’
