Brooklyn Elementary School was host to the June Chamber of Commerce gathering that is annually featured as the opportunity for district leadership to present the State of the Schools. Delivered by Superintendent Dr. Mark Gleichauf, the State of the Schools featured a variety of updates from academic achievement, school safety and security enhancements, communications and extra-curricular involvement and community pride. A special word of gratitude was offered by Dr. Gleichauf to the community for their support of Issue 1 this past May as well.  The Chamber of Commerce also generously presented its scholarship awards to a handful of current and past Brooklyn students. Karli Verchio, who will be attending the University Toledo in the fall to major in Nursing, along with Ruth Sasso, who will be attending Baldwin Wallace University, both received a $2,500 scholarship each from the Chamber of Commerce. Anthony Giordano, who will be attending Ohio University next year, received a $1,000 scholarship, as did Brooklyn High School graduate from the Class of 2017, Brandon Hass. Chamber of Commerce President Jessica Cliff presented each student with their check and did a fine job of emceeing the overall Chamber gathering. Thank you to everyone who made this State of the Schools presentation successful!
