Brooklyn High Alumnus Shakes Hand with King of Spain

 Ioana Spiridonica

The Brooklyn City Schools is dedicated to providing opportunities for students of all ages so that they are prepared for virtually any chance to stretch and grow as contributing members of a global society. Such was the rare and outstanding occasion, when 2017 graduate, Ioana Spiridonica, had the privileged chance to meet with and shake the hands of Felipe VI, the present King of Spain. Ioana took advantage of this opportunity through her study abroad course, as a current student at The Ohio State University, and who remains closely connected with High School Spanish instructor Jacalyn Holko.  As a student at Brooklyn High School, Ioana developed a love for travel, participating in two school sponsored trips to Europe.  When recent graduates of the Brooklyn City Schools excel into unique opportunities, the District will continue to promote their stories with the community. Congratulations, Ioana, for making the most of your premium education, traveling the globe and interfacing with the world’s most notable leaders.
