Brooklyn High School Recognizes September Students of the Month

BHS September 2019 Students of the Month

Brooklyn High School Principal Bill Wingler recently recognized one student in each grade at the High School for exemplifying Hurricane Pride in their commitment to academic achievement, hard work and setting a positive example for others. Each of the following students was nominated by their grade level teachers and had the opportunity to eat lunch with the principals on Thursday, October 10, 2019.

Hannah Changeri, 8th grade – From volunteering at the Brooklyn Fall Fest with Key Club to promoting recycling or working with students at Brooklyn Schools’ Field Day as part of National Junior Honor Society, Hannah is active in various serving opportunities in the Brooklyn City Schools.  A member of the Junior Hurricettes the previous four years, Hannah has also participated in the Power of the Pen competition.  In the future, Hannah would like to attend The Ohio State University and pursue a career as an animated artist and voice actor. 

Katrina Gasper, 9th grade – During the fall sports season, Katrina is a member of the Girls Soccer team and The Hurricettes and plans to participate on the Track team in the Spring of 2020.  She is also involved in music, playing bass clarinet in Concert Band.  Katrina is also focused on academic achievement through her participation in the College Credit Plus program.

Zachary Perry, 10th grade – Zachary is excited to begin participating in several co-curricular opportunities offered by the Brooklyn City Schools this school year, including Drama Club and the shot put event as a member of the Track team.  As a student, Zachary enjoys taking art classes and science courses. 

Andrew Coyne, 11th grade – Andrew is active in a wide variety of athletic and co-curricular opportunities at Brooklyn High School.  He previously played on the Football team and currently competes on the Track team in the 800 meter and shot put events.  Andrew is also a member of National Honor Society and Stage Crew.  Regarding post-graduation plans, Andrew is currently considering a degree in Engineering. 

Matt Hill, 12th grade – As a Polaris student, Matt is enrolled in the Community Work Experience program which provides him the opportunity to engage in authentic learning at Southwest General Health Center, assisting with the organization of medical records and patient information packets.  After graduation, Matt seeks to pursue educational training for a career in the field of Information Technology.
