During these unprecedented times, individuals from across the country are making selfless contributions to support their fellow community members, including essential workers. Brooklyn High School is home to some of those heroes, as siblings Joseph and Maria Lukanc are applying their creativity and expertise to create ear savers for local nurses. Using a 3-D printer at their home, Joseph (11th grade) and Maria (10th grade) are producing the simple, yet effective accessory which attaches to the straps of a face mask and prevents the user’s ears from getting pinched. The ear savers also feature inspirational messages such as “Hero at Work” and “Stay Strong” to provide daily encouragement to those serving on the front lines of the ongoing pandemic. Joseph and Maria recently delivered the ear savers to nurses at the University Hospitals Parma Medical Center. The Brooklyn City Schools proudly recognize Joseph and Maria Lukanc for their contributions on behalf of those serving our communities!
